Session Fees

My fee for an initial consultation is $175. Subsequent once a week therapy is generally $210 for individuals and $270 for couples. For those interested in more intensive work (2-5 sessions per week), I offer a range of fees based on financial circumstance and agreed upon session frequency. Additionally, I reserve a number of hours in my schedule each week for those in need of a significantly reduced fee. Please don’t hesitate to ask me about that availability. If I am not able to accommodate you, I will be more than happy to provide a referral to an appropriate colleague or clinic.

Session Duration and Frequency

Psychotherapy works best with regularly scheduled sessions, usually forty-five minutes in length for individuals, sixty for couples. My schedule is such that sessions need to end on time so please be aware that if you are late we will have less time together.

Frequency of sessions varies. Though once a week sessions are an option, I find that meeting more often is most effective in achieving long-lasting change. For that reason, I recommend we meet at least twice a week if possible.

Billing and Insurance

Payment will be expected directly from you on a monthly basis, by check, cash or credit card. Should timely payment become an issue I will request that you render payment at each session.

Though I am not in-network with any insurance company, I will provide you each month with an invoice which can be submitted to your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement if such coverage is available to you.

Scheduling and Cancellation

In the interest of maintaining continuity and consistency, I request that you try to honor your scheduled appointments.

If you need to miss or reschedule an appointment, I ask that you give me as much notice as possible and that you join me in trying to find a workable alternative time to meet. If you prefer not to reschedule, I will charge you for the missed session.

For those who travel frequently, I offer remote sessions (via phone, Skype, or FaceTime) as a means of minimizing disruption to our work.

Please feel free to contact me by phone or email at any hour. In either case, I will get back to you as soon as I am able; this will usually be within the day that you are in touch if it is before 6 pm and the next day if you contact me later.

Phone and email contact are best used for basic issues around scheduling, billing, etc. Anything of substance that is not urgent is best discussed in person.

If you are unable to reach me in an emergency, call 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency room.
